Mission: Renaissance student Riley and her brother Jack entered an art contest in association with the Arbor Day Festival in Santa Clarita. The contest called for them to use recyclable materials to create an art work.  They ended up winning first place for best use of recyclable materials and third place for creativity.  They found all the material for their art at area beaches.

Congratulations to both! Art is a smart and fun investment that everyone young and old deserves and guarantees a return.

Mission Renaissance Art Class has been selected for the 2012 Los Angeles Award in the Art Instruction & Schools category by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA).
The USCA “Best of Local Business” Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country.

 Each year, the USCA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.
Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2012 USCA Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USCA and data provided by third parties.

Mission: Renaissance student, Sydney Rubio is one of 13 national finalists in the American Kidney Fund 2013 Calendar Art Contest. Your vote could help Sydney’s work win the contest, making her art the cover image of the calendar and send her and her family to Washington D.C. to attend the “A Hope Affair” annual gala event. Voting is now underway and ends on March 30th.

Each participating storeowner will judge the entries brought in to the store and choose the top piece, which will be submitted to the Fastframe Corporate office to be judged in the National Art Contest. •The National Winner will be chosen and announced the first week of May. The winning piece will be framed and then photographed for display on the Fastframe Corporate website for the month of May 2012. •The decision of the judging panel is final. •The framed piece will be returned to the artist after June 1st, 2012. •Artwork submitted for the national contest but not chosen will be sent back to and framed by the local store and will be made available for pickup after June 1st. •All entries and artist’s details (name, city and state) may be used in publicity campaigns for this promotion and future promotions. So let us show them what our favorite activity is.

 Executive Director Ted Prescott and Children’s Program Director Angela Arnold cut the ceremonial ribbon that opened the doors for the eager kids waiting to take a Free Introductory lesson. Many residents passing by stopped in with their interest focused on teen and adult classes.

 Everyone was very impressed with the new location, the cleanliness, the brightly lit studio as well as all the brand new amenities, not to mention the convenience.

Alex is a teen student at our Irvine Mission: Renaissance studio, and her artwork entitled (Still life with books oil painting) exhibited at the OCCCA 2012 Show has been recognized as one of the strongest pieces created in the Visual Arts Conservatory this school year.

Alex’s artwork will be included in the prestigious Gala 2012, 25th Anniversary Edition held on March 10, 2012 and will feature an array of Tony, Emmy and Grammy-nominated alumni guest stars from the past 25 years. The event is estimated to raise $1,000,000 in support of aspiring student artists.

What a great accomplishment! We at Mission: Renassance are proud of Alex’s talent and outstanding support for the Orange County High School of the Arts family and Orange County community leaders.

Dana Wood and Jacquelyn Klein are both winners in the painting category from over 20,000 entries and will be going on to the Nationals. 

Dana and Jacquelyn are both teen students at our Pacific Palisades studio.

The Western states that participate are Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Dana’s painting is titled “recovery” and Jacquelyn’s painting is titled “Healing.”
